At Forest Bloom we value…
The Right to be a child.
We see children as capable and competent, independent and constructors of their own knowledge. Children need to be heard, seen, and acknowledged.
Building Relationships, Diversity and Anti-Racist/Anti-Bias
We embrace diversity of all kinds and appreciate our differences. We work hard to provide an anti-racist and anti-biased program. We value the guidance that NAEYC provides and accept everyone as individuals. Children and adults respect each other and learn that even if we have different points of view, we are all on the same team and support each other. Our environment is a place where we can share our unique experiences with each other in a respectful and kind way.
Community
Our small size makes it easy to create a strong sense of community among the children, teachers and families. We are family oriented and see ourselves as partners with the families. We want children to learn to be members of the larger community within the park and in the larger community. We try to find opportunities to help others and give back. The children learn to respect the park and the other visitors that use the space and grow to be empathetic and open-minded. We work on social/emotional growth and encourage the children to offer supportive words when someone is hurt and learn to listen to each other and different viewpoints.
Connecting Children with their Environment
Caring deeply for our natural world: animals, plants and trees. By being exposed to nature the children have an easier time understanding about conservation and protecting nature. The children are always learning valuable life skills and how to help improve our world.
Play
Forest Bloom School value extended periods of free play in nature. Children should have the right to explore their world through play. It is during play that children learn to test their ideas and theories. They learn to be independent as well as how to be part of a community. Play is the most important way children develop and grow.
