WHAT TO BRING
Ready for the wild
The Field Kit: Gear & Grub
We are outside all day, through sun, fog, and rain. Having the right gear ensures your child remains the "Captain of their own adventure" rather than being distracted by the elements.
The Daily Backpack
All items must be LABELED and fit inside a comfortable, child-sized backpack.
The "Safety Set": A full change of clothes (shirt, pants, underwear, socks) tucked into a waterproof bag, a dry bag for muddy or wet clothes, extra socks, undies and pants (especially if it’s rainy).
Layers: A jacket or sweater, even on sunny mornings.
Hydration: A filled, leak-proof water bottle.
Headwear: A sunhat and a warm beanie (the SF "double-header").
Rest: A small blanket/sleeping bag if your child naps.
Optional: Please apply sunscreen before drop-off.
Dressing for the Elements
Layer Up: Base layers in wool, organic cotton, fleece are best for regulating temperature.
Rainy Days: Full rain gear is required—waterproof raincoat, rain pants (or bibs), and sturdy rain boots.
Pro-Tip: We recommend two-piece gear over one-piece suits so children can easily manage their own layers and bathroom breaks.
Fuel for the Journey
Waste-Free: Please use reusable containers whenever possible to help us honor the land.
Lunch & Snack: Pack a hearty, protein-rich snack and lunch that fits entirely inside their backpack.
Warmth: On chilly days, we provide warm herbal tea. We highly recommend packing a thermos of hot soup or cocoa for your child.
Allergies: We take safety seriously. If your child has an allergy, please ensure it is noted in ActivityHero so we can maintain a clear safety plan.
Safety & Extreme Weather
Nature is unpredictable, and we monitor conditions constantly to keep our children safe.
Air Quality (AQI): If the AQI reaches 100 or above, we will not meet outdoors.
Extreme Weather: In cases of high winds or heavy storms, we may call for a location shift or early pick-up.
Communication: Check your email by 7:00 AM on weather-impacted days for updates
