Rhythm of the Day
At Forest Bloom, we don't follow a ringing bell; we follow the flow of the day and the curiosity of the children. We view our schedule as a "lovingly loose" container—consistent enough for children to feel secure, yet flexible enough to follow a beetle’s path or a sudden burst of creative energy.
The Morning Flow
Arrival & The Gathering: We begin our day in the open air, greeting the morning through child-led exploration and nature play in our home base.
Morning Meeting & Nourishment: We gather for a healthy snack and a "circle of intentions." This is where we listen to the forest and decide together where our curiosity will lead us today.
The Journey (Child-Led Hike): We set out on the trails. Whether we are tracking wildlife or observing the shifting fog, this is a time for deep, unhurried discovery.
The Mid-Day Heart
Lunch in the Wild: We pause to refuel our bodies and share stories in one of our many forest "classrooms."
The Creative Pulse: Afternoons are for deeper immersion. Depending on the day's energy, we dive into storytelling, collaborative art, dance, or music medicine.
Rest & Second Wonders
Rest & Reflection: A quiet time for the body to integrate the morning's adventure. For some, this is a deep nap under the canopy; for others, it is quiet observation or leaf-rubbing.
The Second Wonder: As the afternoon light shifts, we often visit a favorite climbing tree, a hidden grove, or a seasonal stream.
Free Play & The Return: We close our day with open-ended play, slowly transitioning back as parents arrive to hear the day's stories.
A Note on the Elements
In San Francisco, the weather is part of our curriculum. Our rhythm remains steady through sun, fog, and light rain. We believe there is no such thing as "bad" weather, only different opportunities for discovery. We ask that all children come prepared with their Field Kit to ensure they stay warm, dry, and free to fly.
"The rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind, and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life." — Hazrat Inayat Khan
